What Did They Say When Clinton Was Being Impeached?
"This nation sits at a crossroads. One direction points to the higher road of the rule of law. Sometimes hard, sometimes unpleasant, this path relies on truth, justice and the rigorous application of the principle that no man is above the law. Now, the other road is the path of least resistance. This is where we start making exceptions to our laws based on poll numbers and spin control. This is when we pitch the law completely overboard when the mood fits us, when we ignore the facts in order to cover up the truth.
No man is above the law, and no man is below the law. That’s the principle that we all hold very dear in this country."
Rep. Henry Hyde (R-Ill.):
"I suggest impeachment is like beauty: apparently in the eye of the beholder. But I hold a different view. And it's not a vengeful one, it's not vindictive, and it's not craven. It's just a concern for the Constitution and a high respect for the rule of law. ... as a lawyer and a legislator for most of my very long life, I have a particular reverence for our legal system. It protects the innocent, it punishes the guilty, it defends the powerless, it guards freedom, it summons the noblest instincts of the human spirit.
The rule of law protects you and it protects me from the midnight fire on our roof or the 3 a.m. knock on our door."
James Sensenbrenner: (R-WI):
"What is on trial here is the truth and the rule of law. Our failure to bring President Clinton to account for his lying under oath and preventing the courts from administering equal justice under law, will cause a cancer to be present in our society for generations. I want those parents who ask me the questions, to be able to tell their children that even if you are president of the United States, if you lie when sworn "to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth," you will face the consequences of that action, even when you don't accept the responsibility for them."
Chuck Hagel (R-NB):
"There can be no shading of right and wrong. The complicated currents that have coursed through this impeachment process are many. But after stripping away the underbrush of legal technicalities and nuance, I find that the President abused his sacred power by lying and obstructing justice. How can parents instill values and morality in their children? How can educators teach our children? How can the rule of law for every American be applied equally if we have two standards of justice in America--one for the powerful and the other for the rest of us?"
Bill Frist (R-TN):
"I will have no part in the creation of a constitutional double-standard to benefit the President. He is not above the law. If an ordinary citizen committed these crimes, he would go to jail."
Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas):
"When someone is elected president, they receive the greatest gift possible from the American people, their trust. To violate that trust is to raise questions about fitness for office. My constituents often remind me that if anyone else in a position of authority -- for example, a business executive, a military officer of a professional educator -- had acted as the evidence indicates the president did, their career would be over. The rules under which President Nixon would have been tried for impeachment had he not resigned contain this statement: "The office of the president is such that it calls for a higher level of conduct than the average citizen in the United States."

Since they have proven themselves hypocrites several dozen times over, this should surprise no one. And the El Shrubbo worshippers do not operate on anything but faith anyway, so their opinions do not have to remotely resemble anything approaching reason-and they don't.

Clinton undoubtedly deserved /s to be impeached, but then if such be the case, Bush probably deserves to be lynched to death.

These are not ordinary men. They are the idols created by the golden gods of the elite.
So powerful are they that to even whisper an unkind thought could result in an untimely death. Bombs and bullets only makes them stronger. It is only by tiny paper cuts by the sword of truth that will bring about their demise.

So illegal wire-tapping is the thing that's got folks upset?
Impeaching GWB for illegal wire-tapping is like booking Jack the Ripper for littering.
I suspect if an ordinary citizen, through depraved indifference, caused the deaths of thousands of people by committing fraud, he'd face a bit stiffer punishment than just losing a job he doesn't really need.
We should be talking INDICTMENT not just IMPEACHMENT.

That was Tom DeLay in 1999.
Here is the rest of the quote:
"There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our overextended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today."

I'd like to react to the post of DDB, with whom I almost entirely agree,by adding------I should specify though that I have no major disagreement with him/her, the more so as I think it may all boil down to a typing omission----------that the possibility of organising a serious response does exist. Each and everyone will have to play his/her role, to react and act some way or other, regardless of the fact that any action may, on the spur of the moment seem puny.Eventually, the accumulation of initiatives and actions,of gestures will produce the required effect. The important thing is to start to act right away, and relentlessly as from now on.

Indeed the time is long past that the peopel who ;iv ein this country should take a creful look at what is being done in their name. The reasons we are despised around the world are many and easily found. We do not live in a democracy and have not for many years. If we wish to create a democracy then we are given that duty by our constitution. But I would caution that if change is what we want we better be damn sure of what we want to change and how.
Confusion is a bitter enemy when taking in a task which could in the end remake this country.
And get it straight right now elections mean nothing and change nothing.

Given the history of Jack Abramoff, does anybody really doubt that the Iraq war is a payment for the suspicious election counts in Florida 2000 and Ohio 2004?
That's why George Bush's lies aren't as newsworthy as Bill Clinton's knobshine.
JFK came to power the same way. When he didn't invade Cuba, they shot him. They let any would-be JFK know it was them through Jack Ruby. I think the same thing would happen to GWB if he reneged on the reward he gave Abramoff.
And now you know the Ressst of the story as to why these people get expelled from everywhere they go.

True to form, the theo-con holier than thou elected officials dishes it out, but cannot stand to have their own agenda and motivations scrutinized. These politicians on the extreme right are destined to over-reach, and while I don't condone Clinton's actions with regards to extra-marital activities, it hardly justifies impeachment. bush and his corporatcratic executive branch has no regard for our constitution, plays the fear card at every opportunity, lies to the American public, has no regard for its middle and lower class constituents, is responsible for the deaths of over 2,000 Military men and women, and for perpetuating continual warfare in the Middle East, and other regions. While I believe that the threat from terrorism does indeed exist, because of this administrations irresponsible actions in Iraq and Afghnaistan, this problem has been exacerbated to phenominal preportions. So, to come right to the point, bush's actions as it pertain's to foreign and domestic policy, and justification for impeachment, far overshadows anything Clinton did as President.

You people are idiots. This only serves to show why you can't be allowed to make your own decisions. War is good for the economy and if a few soldiers die in the process, well then tough tittie, it's their job. The world doesn't hate America it fears it and that's a good thing. World rule by fear is better than being just another one of the sheep. There's a reason it's called the Patriot act, if you're against it, then you are a terrorist plain and simple. Want to debate it? Fuck you, we hold all the cards and will make sure that no dumbocrat ever holds power again. You'll shut the fuck up and do what you're told. George W Bush is a great man of history, Cheney will be an even better president because he won't hesitate to wipe all you bleeding heart liberal scumbags from the face of my great nation. God bless America and no one else.

And now, some poetic justice...
The Burning Bush (a tribute to father and son)
Prepare to meet thy maker
Troublesome Christian faker
You don’t seem to understand respect for your fellow man
Don’t think that you can disguise the hate that’s burning from your eyes
Your evil actions we despise, too late to hide from all your lies
We’ve come together across this land, to take back our future from your hands
From first to last word, you lying bastard
Grand wizard of deceit and disaster
A tainted victor, carbon based hell raiser
The empire falls on this comical Kaiser
You stole the election, now you spread your infection
You show no affection, you’re a lethal injection
You can’t stand rejection, and you have no reflection
A distorted collection of negative projections
Do you get an erection projecting dysfunction?
Need a circumcision from your manly projections?
Taste apprehension, feel mass rebellion
There’ll be no resurrection, just your crucifixion!
(And do I need to mention your total corruption?)
Are you paying attention, or do you lack intellection?
Fear’s your protection; hate’s your prescription
So what are our options, but to perform a dissection?
To your confused conceptions, and your evil perceptions.
You should be safe in your mansion, as they flatten Manhattan
While you fatten your pension with your war tax collection.
If you were Tibetan, you’d be less than a heathen
May your karma be true, to the power of centillion (10 600)
You will rot in eternity for the murder of millions
Stole the world’s prosperity, to profit a billion
One thing is certain, as we pull back the curtains
The truth has been written, you will not be forgotten!
We will soon enlighten, this ship’s course will righten
The seas will soon settle, the skies will soon lighten
And the people will love, and stop all this fighting
A gift from above, it will be so delighting!
So be prepared to meet thy maker
In the clear light, we all ascend
We will learn to forgive, and not to forget
And attain our collective enlightenment!

You can't teach those sport watching, boot licking,Bush loving knuckle dagging neanderthals anything. You must have at least some rudementary piece of a brain stem to be taught. It's like telling a Christian that their Jesus was not real. These kind of people have no conscience nor do they care about those who might have a different view about what's going on. They thrive on the filthy lying puke spewed out of the mouths of the traitors in DC and the media like so many rabid diseased animals. They are unable to think for themselves or use any intelect because they don't have any. And they call us REAL PATRIOTIC Americans that believe in the constitution a bunch of terrorists while their (and our) freedoms are being taken away more and more each day by this bunch of filth in DC. I sure don't want to live in a corporate controlled fascist police state. So wake up you dumbasses and help us preserve our nation and the constitution for ourselves and our children!
